My Wife and I have just started to research my mother's family. They are the Duley (or Duly) family, they come from Lewes and the surrounding area. Lewes is in East Sussex. We have only been researching for 2 weeks but we have managed to go back as far as 1770 at the moment.
In the 1800 and early 1990's we have found that most of the male members of the family where either shephards or they worked on the land. They worked in places like Alciston, East Dean, Glynde, Littlington, Alfriston and surrounding areas.
