The Edwards/Broekhoven Family TreeUpdated June 25, 2010 |
My brother, Frank Theodore Edwards, has been responsible for most of the family research to date. Some of it he compiled based on old family records and photos kept by our mother, Doris Theresa. Her maiden name was Broekhoven and her place of birth was New Orleans, Louisiana. The balance of the family research conducted by my brother and I has been through Ancestry.Com. U.S. Federal Census data dating back to 1880 has been invaluable. We have also gained a lot of information from draft registration cards from World War I and II. To date, we have been unable to trace our father's side of the family back further than his father. Grandfather Edwards (i.e., William Francis; b.1870, d.1927)had his own construction company based in Oakland California. When he first arrived in the U.S. from Ireland in 1890, he worked as a mining engineer for United Verdi Mines of Jerome, Arizona, and the Phelps Dodge Co. of Bisbee, Arizona. We know that his father's name was Thomas and his mother's name was Bridget Farrell. We don't know in what town in Ireland they lived. We believe they resided somewhere in County Roscommon. |
