From Glabbeek, Belgium in 1855 toRapides Parish, Louisiana in 1860.
This page is dedicated to the
descendants of Joseph VAN VECKHOVEN
and his wife Vicentia WEYMANS who
sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on
19 March 1855 aboard the ship "Seawal".
Their children who departed with them
for America were:
Libertus, age 11
Carolus, age 9
Rosalie, age 8
Pelagie, age 6
Francois, age 6 months

In America, the children became know as;
Albert, Charles, Rosa Lee, and Mary P.

Young Francois did not survive the voyage, but
on 3 January 1856 a son was born in America.
In honor of the lost infant, the newborn son
was named John Francis VAN VECKHOVEN. The
first VAN VECKHOVEN to be born on American
soil.

I am Robert A. Edwards. I am a descendant
of John Francis "Frank" VAN VECKHOVEN.
This page is dedicated to my great-great-
grandfather, and his parents and siblings
who came to America to make a new life for
themselves.

Other surnames which I am researching that
you may find within these pages, are:
McFERRAN/McFERREN/McFERRIN, SANDIFER/SANDEFER,
and WOODEL/WOODLE.
