| From Glabbeek, Belgium in 1855 toRapides Parish, Louisiana in 1860. This page is dedicated to the descendants of Joseph VAN VECKHOVEN and his wife Vicentia WEYMANS who sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on 19 March 1855 aboard the ship "Seawal". Their children who departed with them for America were: Libertus, age 11 Carolus, age 9 Rosalie, age 8 Pelagie, age 6 Francois, age 6 months In America, the children became know as; Albert, Charles, Rosa Lee, and Mary P. Young Francois did not survive the voyage, but on 3 January 1856 a son was born in America. In honor of the lost infant, the newborn son was named John Francis VAN VECKHOVEN. The first VAN VECKHOVEN to be born on American soil. I am Robert A. Edwards. I am a descendant of John Francis "Frank" VAN VECKHOVEN. This page is dedicated to my great-great- grandfather, and his parents and siblings who came to America to make a new life for themselves.
