| In the year of 1774 on August 24th William Almond married Sarah Watkins in England. They had nine children and their son William was born in 1778 in Lincolnshire, England. He married Sarah Sampson his first wife, and later married Elizabeth Sampson, Sarah's sister. He had three children with Sarah, and he and Elizabeth had three children. The second child of William and Elizabeth was George who was also born in Lincolnshire, England. At some point he and his family came to America where he married Mary Elizabeth Cary Tillbury of Wilkesbarre, Pa. Together they had ten children, the last of whom was George, Jr. who was born in Indiana. George Jr. married Ellenor Foster Hunter and they had two children. His second wife was Ella Betts and they had three children. The second child of George, Jr. and Ellenor was Charles Hunter Almond, who is Richards grandfather. He was married twice. He and his first wife Nina Lee Whetsler had three children, the second was a daughter, Helen. That was Richards mother. Benjamin Frank Edwards and Nancy Elizabeth McGarvey of Illinois, met and married in 1882. Their son, Alvin Eugene Edwards was born in Missouri and he later married Lula Inez Merrell of Kansas on July 3, 1908. They had six children. The first child was William Alvin and he married the above Helen. This is Richards father. Cord Heinrich Block and Anna Kaatharina Margarethe Boekmann married and had a son named Diedrich Heinrich Gottlieb Block born in Hanover, Germany. He married Anna Katharina Marie Dorothee Vogeler in Steimbke, Germany and they produced five children. One child, Diedrich Heinrich Wilhelm Block met Marie Luise (Louisa) Bremerman in Lichtemoor (Heemsen) Germany, and there they married on September 27, 1864. They emigrated to America in 1868. Their son Fredrick Henry Block, born in Illinois, married Mary Alice Tomlin on May 3, 1897, they had eight children. The eighth child was a twin, Bernadine, who was the mother of Valerie. In Sweden in the middle 1850's Carl Johan Pehrsson Carlson married Albertina Johanshatter and they had three sons. Their son Johannes Pardion Carlson born in Steninge, Sweden met Sophia Anderson of Harplinge, Sweden and they married on August 2, 1885. They emigrated to Nebraska in the spring of 1891. Their daughter Anna Elida Carlson met and wed John Savage Wade, Jr., the son of John Wade Sr. a physician and Lillie Carnes, on October 26, 1912. They had a son, John Wade who was the father of Valerie Wade Edwards. This is how the Edwards family came into being. |
