Sept. 8, 1834 MARRIED second to Ruth Doughty and had Seven Children: Hannah, Lydia, Prvdence, Ruth Rhoda, Ezekiel b.1827, Thomas b.1833. Hannah married Uriah Edwards. Lydia m. Thomas Kephart. Prevdence m. William Simpson. Ruth m. Andrew Laird, Rhoda m. Morton Shaul. Ezekiel m three times, 1) Margart Dorsey. 2)Mary Oliver. 3) Fannie Janes. Thomas m. Elizabeth Leonard. John Eggman from Strasburg,Pa. (Lancaster Co.) Many German's settled there. I have a Quaker Naturalization record in 1753. This is the earlyest EGGMAN record I have. John Eggman petitiond in 1818 for a license to run a tavern. Tavern Petition on file at Library in Woodbury, NJ. From: Stewart"s Genealogical and Historical Miscellany - Christopher Eggman, Deptford township, Gloucester county and Deborah Kimsey, widow, same place, 1753. From: Cushing, Thomas, MD, and Charles E. Sheppard. History of Gloucester, Salem, and Cumberland Counties, New Jersey. Philadelphia: Everts and Peck, 1883. Page 237 "Joseph R. Paul married Elizabeth Eggman, of Haddonfield. Their children are Adrian, born Feb. 28, 1856, and Charles E., born Jan. 18, 1859." Joseph R. Paul is the son of Adrian C. Paul (1800), he the son of Samuel Philip Paul (1763-1831) and Nancy Clark. Sheppards copies of Port Elizabeth Metho. Ch. records and found no other Egmans, but Johns marriage to Hannah Furnace on June 12, 1804, by Benjamin Fisler, witn. by. Asa Pittman & Neoinia Peterson. On other pape I did find a listing of a William Furnace to be a Trustee of the Church between 1798 -1846. Further into the year it said William Furnace dec. and a new Trustee to be eclected. In the infamous Vanaman book there are marriages for John Eggman & Hannah Furnace, both of Maurice River Twp. on 12 June 1804 by Benjamin Fisler & witnessed by Asa Pittman &Naomia Peterson. I have research on the Early NJ Eggmans. a list of wills But no one that I know has looked at the early wills. This could tie the early Eggman's of the 1700's together. Transcripts of tombstones in the Haddonfield Baptist Cemetary made in 1935: 477; Eggman - Franklin Eggman born Oct. 1797, (d) Oct 11, 1880 478: Sarah Eggman w/o Franklin died Jul 28, 1858 in 57th year. 479: Mary, dau of Franklin and Sarah Eggman died Dec 15, 1841 in her 13th year. 4 |
