II. The Ancestors of Henry Eggers
This section describes the available information on ancestors of Henry Eggers (and thus the ancestors of those of us who are Henry's descendants as well.) The Ancestor Tree of Henry Friedrich Eggers in the next section provides a quick overview of the known ancestors, going back to Harm Eggers, born 1722. (Note that the name "Harm" is used by several direct ancestors, uncles, and cousins, as noted elsewhere.) As with the descendants, the next level of detail is best found in two family trees that can be accessed from the home page.
Outline Descendant Tree: Descendants of Harm Eggers
This is the more concise format (2 pages). The name of each lineal descendant is preceded by the generation number within this report, beginning with 1 (Harm Eggers). The names in each subsequent generations are indented a few spaces. Spouses follow, where applicable, preceded by a "+" sign.
The ancestor of the writer and most readers who immigrated to Perry County (Claus b. 1806) can be found at the bottom of page 1.
Each name is followed by any "aka", along with (if known) date and place of birth, date and place of death, and, for spouses, the date and place of marriage.
Genealogy Report: Descendants of Harm Eggers
This report is longer (20 pages) and includes much more information. It is arranged by generations, beginning with Harm Eggers and his children and ending with the generation of Henry Eggers. ,
From this first page you can click "Next Page" to see the start of Generation No. 2, with similar information about Harm's children and continue clicking Next Page through all four generations. Alternately, from the first page, you can click the "+/-" symbol in front of any of Harm's children, which will take you to the start of the second generation for his or her family. In turn, you can click +/- for any of that generation to go down the line, generation by generation, and the browser back arrow will return you to the starting point.
The notes after each individual summarize any available historical information about family members. This includes the godparents of the Eggers children, which may be of interest to some readers because some of the relatives or friends selected as godparents have the same surnames as families in Perry County, e.g., Steffens, Mangels, and Luehrs.
Much of the historical information in this report came from Fred Buck, whose sources were primarily church records in the Latter Day Saints (Morman) Family History Microfilms.
Along with a review of that report, a discussion of the early family history is best begun by reading about at the German origins in the section following the Ancestor chart.
