Notes for Anna Egli: Aunt Anna Egli (Blaylock) had two children: Betty, who married Dale Thompson, whom she me t at Simpson College in Iowa. Dale was for a long time in the FBI in Washington, He was resp onsible for getting Carol a job with the FBI in Washington when she got out of Iowa State i n 1949. Betty and Dale, retired, now live in Helena, Montana in a retirement home near thei r son Frank who for many years has been a doctor in Montana. Betty and DaleThompson's daught er Ann married a minister and he was stationed at the Air Force Field, near Omaha as Base Cha plin, when we last saw them. Don't know where they are now or how many kids they may have. Aunt Anna's son, Major John R. Blaylock, is interned in Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, V irgina.. His body was brought back to USA after WW II. He was shot down on his 20th missio n when he was leading a flight of B17 Bombers over Cologne, Germany He and all of his crew we re captured by the Germans when he landed his bomber in Germany. He escaped from a famous pr ison camp ( I think the one which a Hollywood Movie was later based on. . The Red Cross repo rted to his mother, Aunt Anna that he had escaped from a prison camp and two days later advis ed her that he had been killed. (I was sitting on a cot in a barracks at Payne Field, Egypt w hen I got a letter telling me about this. John Bob went to Iowa U. at Iowa City and sang with a dance band when there. Clark Gable, the movied actor, flew on John Bob's plane as a camera man, but wasn't on the p lane, the day Bob's B-17 was shot down. Clark Gable, came to Council Bluffs, Iowa to see Aun t Anna and Uncle John after the war. When John Bob went over seas he flew his Bomber low over dad, who was out in the field plowi ng on the farm at Paton. John Bob flew by very low over the field and waved at dad. That w as the last time a family member saw John Bob. I have a photo of me and "Patches" John Bob's little smooth haired Fox Terrier who stayed p art of the time when John Bob left to go in the US Army Air Corps up on the farm.
