| We are presently researching the following surnames:MATHEWS,KOCH, andEHRET.The first person we started with was George G. Mathews, d/o/b 1821, who married Margaret Newman, d/o/b 12/1836. George died in St. Louis, Missouri on March 9, 1877 and is buried in Calvery Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Margaret's parents were William Newman and Mary Fitzgerald both from Ireland. George was my Great Grandfather. My Grandfather was Wade H. Mathews. This was my father's side of the family. My father, Edward Pius Mathews was the last born in a family that cared for 16 children either born to, adopted, or taken in by my grandparents. My mother's side of the family boasts an array of people. Her Great Uncle was Dr. Robert Koch the discoverer of causes for anthrax, cholora and tuberculosis. Her Great Grandfather was Karl Conrad Koch who married Matilde Biewend.I married into the Ehret family in 1972. While searching for information on the Mathews family I began to try to get information on my husband's side. This proved to be harder than the rest. My father-in-law and his brother, being the only ones left had little to no information. They only knew that their grandfather had died when their father was about 7 years old. Through the long process of searching I was to find their grandfather was Karl Friederick Ehret from Baden, Germany who married Caroline Spissinger, also from Baden, in St. Louis, Missouri on January 28, 1868. They both died in St. Louis. If you have any information or would like any information, please contact me. |
