Why "The Dead Relative Syndrome" you might be asking yourself. Well, I did too to be honest but I decided to "honor" my mother (and yes she would find it humorous) and simply name our family site exactly what she called my hobby-- "the dead relative syndrome".

Mother never quite understood my interest in genealogy but would listen to my captivating "new found stories" and about the latest "family skeletal remains" but always laughed when I'd set out with a digital camera, a notebook, and a tank full of gas.

When I became interested in family research, it wasn't all too long ago-- as you might obviously see here. But the more I do, the more I challenge myself to make certain my information is what is-- backed up facts. I also like to add a bit of flare with a few little written "stories" to put more than names and dates on a colorful page. I dig through photo albums and hunt for other parts of the line to exchange with; as we ALL do. Therefore, if what you find here is useful at all, then perhaps I HAVE accomplished something. But like everyone else who cannot always get to North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee... please just don't take what information is here and leave; if you have something you know fits please contact me. I will ALWAYS be happy to return the favor if I can.

I also want to thank those who HAVE mailed me documents, given me leads, sent me e-mails or even called me by phone.

I've been out of the loop for awhile getting back on my feet after mom passed but given a little more time, there will be so much more available as I continue "putt around looking for dead relatives" and post the nearly 50 documents and over 100 photos I currently have.

For the two and a half short years that I've been working on this "project", I had always planned to bind it and give it to my family (dirt and all) but my only sadness is that mother is IN it instead of me getting to hear her chuckle about The Dead Relative Syndrome.
