| Welcome to the Wood/Bird Family Tree. I presently live in East Yorkshire, but originate from Rushden Northamptonshire. Researching my family is a relatively new hobby and I am hoping this page will jog memories of anyone who knows anything about my family, or indeed is an unknown relative. My main object at present is to discover where my Great Grandfather, Thomas Henry Young disapeared to in the early 1900's. Thomas was my mothers Grandfather, and travelled around the country with his family while working in a travelling theatre. My grandmothers birth Certificate, lists Thomas Young as a comedian back in 1884, I know, from my grndmothers tales that her mother-his wife Emma (nee Wells) was an actress who died at an early stage in my grandmothers childhood. I remember my gran telling me of the families travelling theatre and how she was 'on the stage as a baby'. I also need information on Alfred Wood, my fathers grandfather, i cannot trace him after he moved to Wellinborough in 1901 census, where he lodged at the Bees Wing public house/hotel/boarding house, after leaving Burton Latimer. He was aged 39 at this time. This fits with family information. With help from another internet visitor, I now have managed to trace birth and marriage details of the Bird family in Sharnbrooke and Souldrop Bedfordshire as far back as Thomas Bird married to Francis Langley in about 1812. who are my gr gr gr grandparents on my mothers side. My email is logged so if anyone out there knows of anything please contact me. I hope to add photo's later but am still adding to my tree which can be viewed on the Friends Reunited siteby request. Through the help of another member I have now discovered a Joseph & Maria Wellls in the same place as my mother's side of the family while working in the theatre in Stony Stratford, and i feel have proved who they are. Names i am searching for are- bird, wood, frankham, eaves, chamberlain, brown, young and wells. |
