I am researching the John Theophilus Stoker family who originated in Alabama. John T. Stoker was born in Lafayette, Camp County Texas, on June 7, 1876. His father was John A. Stoker and his mother was Martha L. Pitts. I have not been able to go back beyond John A. Stoker. The 1880 Alabama Census lists John as approximately 46 at the time and head of the household. In the 1850 Census, he is listed as a farm hand on the farm of Rebecca McKiseck (sp) along with Elisha W. Stoker, age 13, and Enoche W. Stoker, age 10. In the 1840 Census, Rebecca is listed as Rebecca Stoker and "head of household with two males under age 5 and one female. I assume that she was the widow of John's father at that time. I would be happy to receive and information on this family line and would be happy to share what I already have. Other family names associated with my family include Vick and Pitts. |
