* The Eisener Family of Nova Scotia*

Updated September 6, 2000

On October 3, 1751 members of the Palatinate Eisenhauer family of Wellemsfeld, Germany landed in Halifax, Nova Scotia aboard the two masted Pearl. The surname has evolved several variants over the years, often with siblings using different spellings. The family is currently well represented in the Lunenburg/New Germany area and Dartmouth. Others of us have moved farther afield, and now reside in Ontario, New Brunswick, and the USA.Early claims of a relationship to the late President Dwight Eisenhower have now been shown to be invalid, but the exact German ancestry has not been established.

My wife is also from Nova Scotia, and her family has strong ties to the Lunenburg/New Germany area as well. Surnames include Bruhm, Corkum, Sanford, and a branch of the Eisenhauer family.
