| Hello, our names are Tom & Clare. We have been working on this project since 1987. This project was started as a result of one of our son's home work assigments. When we started this we didn't realize that it would turn out to be as big of a project as it is. We checked with alot of our relatives and found out that none of them had alot of info about the entire tree, but most of them had bits and pieces about their part of the tree. We have been writting letters (using snail mail), Sending E-Mail, and making alot of long distance phone calls talking to people such as yourself. You are most likely reading this as a result of a E-Mail that We sent you. If you can help in any way, no matter WHAT YOU KNOW, it may be alot of help. Below is some brief information as we know it. Here is what I can tell you: My Grandfather Micheal W. Ekiert was born in Rohatyh, Ukraine, born Sept.12,1887. He had a sister named Julia, she was born August 29,1890. We have heard that they had other brothers and/or sisters. Both brother and sister came to the USA around 1916??? and they lived in Rochester, New York. My grandfather married a lady by the name of Mary Basamania who also came to this country from Europe. We don't know where she lived when she was there. They were married June 1,1918 at St. Stanislaus Church in Rochester,New York. Michael & Mary had 7 children. Cecilia born March 14, 1919, Julia born January 1921, Helen born August 5, 1922, John born January 9, 1924, Sophie born June 25, 1925, Stanley born May 16, 1927 and Francis (Frank) born December 2, 1929, Frank is my dad. Sophie is the only aunt that is still alive. She is still alive and remembers writing to family in Poland. Mike's sister Julia, married Elko Romach. They were married in 1917 at St. Stanislaus Church in Rochester,New York. What we are looking for is WHO might be their brothers and/or sisters. We are not sure how many children were in either family. We did receive some information last summer from a letter that we mailed out. These people might be related but, we cannot put a link via my grandfather to these people. Any information would be appreciated..... |
