The Norb and Juanita Elbert Family Home Page

Our research on the Elbert family has taken us back to the themigration of my Great Grandparents from somewhere in Germany to
the USA somewhere around 1840. They are thought to have entered
through the New York Harbor, from whence they traveled almost
immediately to Louisville,KY. My Great-Grandfather Joseph John Elbert, born 2/19/1813 in "Alsace, Loraine at Frankfurt, France,
near the Swiss Border" of German and Swiss Parents (Per a family
record). Great-Grandmother, Eva Katharina Mattoff, born 2/20/1805
in Berlin, Germany of German parents accompanied her Husband to
the USA along with their 3 children,Theodore E. (9/19/1832-1/1/1902), Ann Maria Elbert (1835-1918), and Noah Elbert (7/28/1841-5/13/1918) as well as Joseph John's brother, John Joseph Elbert, born 2/18/1811. My Grandfather, Frederick Elbert, the 4th child was born in Louisville, KY 7/28/1841. My
Great-Grandfather died 10/18/1843 and was buried in Louisville.
His widow married his brother, John Joseph, 1/22/1844 and they raised the 4 children plus John Joseph, Jr. who was born 9/10/1844 to this new union. Any information regarding the parents of my Great-Grandfather, Great- Grandmother and the brother would be greatly appreciated.
