1. GEORGE² ELEY (JOHANN ALBRECHT¹ IHLE) was born Abt. 1744 in Eichkof Neuenstein,Jagstrkrels,Wuerttenburg,Germany, and died Abt. March 1830 in East Finley Twp, Washington Co, Pennsylvannia. He married CHRISTINE STROSNIDER Abt. 1771 in Pennsylvania.

The following is from The Raymond M. Bell Anthology:

The first record of George Eley and Michael Ely is in 1773, when they were taxed in Labanon Twp(Now Lebanon County, PA, at which time they were both under 30 yrs of age. George was married in 1771 and Michael in 1772.

George Ealy can be found in Pine Grove Twp (now Schuylkill Cy) by 1779, in Shamokin Twp, Northumberland Cy in 1800, to Canton (now South Franklin Twp_ in 1807, and East Finley Twp in 1822.

He was one of the founders of the Fairmont United Methodist Church.

NOTE 2 by BDE: George Eley's birthplace in Germany and his parents' name came from various sources on the internet but I have no documentation to back them up.
