We had begun our research as a Boy Scout Merit Badge requirement and have been amazed at what we have been able to gather so far.
Surnames in our family tree are: Eleazer, Pooley, Sterling, Keenan, Henderson, Barr, Stockman(n), Grube, Schulz, Klinger, Soffel, Venter, Moore, Bennett, Haltiwanger, Derrick, Hamiter, Schmidt, Lightner, Nunamaker, Young, Brandon, Hiller, Bachman, McCreary (McCrary), Duckett, Jacks, Copeland, Owens, Brady, Barrett, Myland, Gilman, Deitz who were direct ancestors and then we have names that married siblings: Ritson, Blum, Polak, Gannon, de St. Martin, Freidlein, Pastir, Dent, Huffman, Douglas, Long, Daniels, Kinney, Harrell, Hunter, Steen, Gregory, Humphries, Anderson, Rhodes, Hughes, Lindsay, Cunningham, Calhoun, Sartor, Medlock, Horner, Watts, Edge, Thompson, Jackson, Malone, Sanders, Myers, Lane, Bearden, Caughman, Shealy, Meetze, Tucker, Welch, Sease, Koon, Pearson, Kinard, Bauknight, Alewine, Counts, Wise, Bouknight, Dougherty, Collins, Sutherland, Gustafson, and several more of the additional names added through sibling marriages.
Some of the information we are searching for is about John Stockman(n) and his Wife Margeret Klinger Born abt. 1820's - 30's, Peter Stockman(n) who fought in the Civil War. Herman Schulz born in Hamburg abt. 1881 and his wife Marie Ida Deitz born on a ship from Prussia to Germany Abt. 1879, Herman and Marie immigrated to Brooklyn, NY in 1909, coming through Ellis Island; the Keenans Pete, Patrick, John and siblings, whose mom died on Shipboard and was buried at sea during their immigration About 1850, John settled in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania; John Pooley and his Wife Anna also of Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, lived there in the 1870's. Col. Thomas Young who emigrated to SC from York County, PA., Johannes Stephen Eleazer, who settled in SC mid 1700's.
