Carl Theodore Skare was born March 22, 1884 to Thor and Ida Skare. He grew up on a farm near Gary, Minnesota. When he was 21 years old, He homesteaded at Ray, North Dakota. After selling his homestead land, he went to Barber School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After he graduated, he and another fellow operated a barber shop at Minneapolis for some time. He also had bought land near Gary, Minnesota, where he later farmed after his marriage to Alice Baardine Lee on June 23, 1915. He died June 24, 1945 and is buried at Ness Church, Gary. Minnesota.

They continued to live there until April of 1956 when they moved to Killdeer, North Dakota. Eunice lived in Killdeer for two years after Edward's death on November 20,1977. In November of 1979, she moved to Dickinson, North Dakota where she currently lives. They had no children.
