Did they move to Ark. before 1900 from Tenn. , looks like they did according to the birth locations of Walter. There is no 1890 census. Even though Maggie was an Ellis she was not blood to the Wallace family. According to Ida Wallace, daughter of John C. & Maggie Ellis Wallace "I know I am related to Lish & Lula Holcomb, I just don't know how" "He was sick when they came from Tenn. to Arkansas. Came to Memphis first, I believe, then came to Arkansas. They lived around Hydrick. They lived out in the hills on the other side of Tyer Cemetery. When I was 8 she moved to Wally Crossing. My mother & daddy moved there too. Dora was 2 when her daddy died. He is probably buried at Tyer, I'm not sure." July 2000: After research at the Detroit Libray: In the 1860 census for Tenn. no record of any of Harriet' brothers, Martin or Christopher. I did find in Shelby Co. 269-350 1860 Census 9th Civil District W. Wallace 39 E. female 37 R.D. male 9 M.F. female 4 I believe this is William Wallace brother of Harriet Wallace my great great grandmother. I believe this is the same Rufus Wallace who married Sarah Alice Crouch In the 1870 Census Shelby Co.
