James Ellis and Abbie Lowe were born in Sevier County. James ancestors came to Tennessee from Virginia in the 1700's They were married on April 14, 1879 and lived
at Boyd's Creek. They owned and operated the Ellis Ferry. They sold uot and moved to the Richardson Cove area, bought a 150 acre farm near the Little Pigeon River across the river from Pittman Center Road. James died of skin cancer in 1928.Abbie continued to live on the farm. Harrison and his family lived with her for awhile. his daughter, Ruby lived with her until the age of 16. Abbie died in 1941.
