Joseph was the only son who "strayed" from the German Reformed Faith and likewise the only son that did not fight in the Revolutionary War.

According to information furnished by Joe Bosserman on April 16, 1997 the following was mentioned. "Joseph had 2,227.5 acres of land surveyed on December 5, 1785 in Washington County, MD. This was also a land Patent. The land was named; "Settled in Time." I doubt if he settled this land as he removed to the area of Frankstown, PA at about this time."
