12/1997 Gordon M. Ellis called his half sister, Gene Wering, and asked if she could recall anything about their father. She could recall him going on business trips to NY City and him bringing her a gift when he returned. Also, that he hated the name Volney, always went by Edgar. She knew his fathers name was Joseph Humphery Ellis. She gave one of her children the middle name Humphrey, and thought at the time it was a good choice because her husband's father was named Humphrey as well, and she covered both grandfathers.
