Randolph was a carpenter for the railroad as confirmed by his death certificate and the
1900 federal census Maryland: Allegany county Election District No.6 Supervisors District No.4- 27-A sheet no. 16 line 44-53.
Interesting thing the name of head of household is listed Randolph(where Deremer should be) then Jacob D as I(Lois Petti) viewed the microfilm and would have missed the entry if I hadn't noticed Maude E. listed below Jacob. This census showed two children for Maude and Randolph and listed six older children providing the fact that Randolph must have been married before.

Randolph Deremer, aged 56 years, 1 month, 21 days, of Narrows park, bridge carpenter foreman on Georges Creek and Cumberland Railroad, dropped dead Tuesday evening at the home of Miss Susie Loar, neice of his wife, at Loartown, near Vale Summit. He had gone to Loartown to conduct singing school! In the Methodist Episcopal Church and had stopped at Miss Loar's for supper, but before he could enter the house he suddenly threw up his hands, fell over and expired, presumably from a heart attack. He was talking to Mr. Fatkin at the time. Mr. Deremer frequently conducted singing schools at different places and he had scheduled weekly visits to Loartown for over a year past.
He had been in the employ of the Georges Creek and Cumberland Railroad since the line was opened. He was twice married and is survived by a wife and 13 children, six by the first marriage, and seven by the second. The body was brought to the Stein undertaking rooms here Tuesday night, after having been prepared for burial, was removed to his home at Narrows Park.
Mr. Deremer was born and raised in Cumberland Valley where he leaves many dear relatives.
He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Deremer. His surviving brothers are; Frederic Deremer, of Cresaptown; Harry Deremer of Glassport, Pa., and Benjamin Deremer, of McKeesport. His surviving sisters; Mrs Lavinia Close, of Meadville, Pa., Mrs. Agnes Boor, of Glassport, Pa.
His surviving children from his first marriage are Russell Deremer, of Marietta, Ohio, Clayton Deremer in the Phillippine Islands, John, residence not kown, and Wilbert, of Cumberland. He leaves the following children from his second marriage; Cadella(Cordella), Harris, Veronica, Francis, Richard, Marshall and Leona, all at home.
The first wife of deceased was a Miss Starkey, of Cresaptown and the second a Miss Bane from Loartown.
The funeral takes place Friday morning at 10:00 with short service at the house and thence to the Cresaptown M.E. Church. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Mr. Giles, of the M.E. Church at Corrigansville, assisted by Rev. Mr. Noble, of the Reformed Church at Corrigansville. Deceased was a member of the M.E. Church.
The pallbeares selected are Mesars. Jacob Blubaugh, Huffman and Henry Loar, of Loartown; Charles McKenzie and Charles Deaver, of the Narrows and D. W. Snyder, of the Alleganian.
Mr. Deremer was better known to the Alleganian readers as "Eli Park," having been a correspondent for several years.

NOTE the brother listed as Harry I believe should be Harvey. [There was no brother Harry]

Notes for Maude Estella Bane:
Notes by Rosalie Deremer Elmore
Maude received $1333.68 Feb. 3, 1914 in the settlement of Randolph Deremer's Estate. Maude actually had to buy her house & property back in an auction, nobody else bid against her. All was noted in the estate papers we have. She bought 2 lots, the first was Lot 12 for $305.00and lot 13 for $500.00.
The land that Randolph Deremer had at the time of his death was divided into lots and sold at auction there were 15 lots.
She stayed in that house along with son, Marshall and his wife Florence and their 2 children, Jim and Yvonne. My dad, Richard, brought us up to visit her at least once a year usually in the summer-July.
He visited without us during hunting season as he would met his brothers in Cumberland and they went hunting. I remember the house vividly and grandma. She once made me a small quilt for my doll all hand pieced and hand stitched that was beautiful.
Source; My mother Ethel Deremer, had a copy of Maude's Funeral card that my father, Richard Deremer, brought home from her funeral. I have a copy of it that my sister, Lois, sent me.
Buried in
Rose Hill Cemetery
Fayette Street, Cumberland 21502

There was a transfer of title on the old Deremer house was in 1956, I think after Maude (their mother) died. And Francis sold the property after Marshall died.

Note; Maude was aparently contacted by Emma Loar Gaddis [she was doing Loar genealogy book] but Maud never responded to her when Emma was asking for genealogy info. Emma, in her book gives Maude as living in Cumberland, MD, R.D. 1 Emma gives only that Maude has six living children.

I Found her on the 1920 Census finally; spelled Maudie E. Deromer in La Vale. Actually it's spelled right on the report? Shows M for married but she is Widowed. Census taker kind of messed this one up I think. Lillian is married and has a child 1yr 2mos old named Lillian, but the daughter Lillian shows her last name is Cordell (she married Unknown Camalotti) Shows that the childrens father was born in MD and he was not, was born in PA. Shows Francis as a daughter not son.

  Notes for Veronica S. Deremer:
Source Francis Deremer [JR we call him]
Said that Veronica had her first child Lillian in 1918 and she wasn't married. No one knows Lillian's fathers name at this point in time [2003] but he was "some Greek fellow" and his last name may have been Cordell. When Veronica married Phillip he would not accept her child Lillianand so she was raised by Maudie, her grandmother. JR remembers as a young boy around 10 years old, Lillian lived with him at grandma's.

Lived in Baltimore, MD when her sister, Leona died March 26, 1971
Jim Deremer gave me the childrens names but said he did not remember her husbands first name.
Becky told me husbands name. Also JR.

Burial: April 02, 1974, Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD
Occupation: Building Superintendant

  Notes for Ethel Hunter Baker:

Schools Attended
Wooden Hawk Elementary
Bridgeville High School; Sussex Co. DE

Ethel remembered attending Woodenhawk school as a child living on Nanticoke Farm, Greenwood, Delaware. She had Banty chickens and a rooster that she treated as a pet. She worked at Snyders Cannery in Greenwood, DE with her mother Rosa and sister Helen putting lables on the cans.
Ethel met her husband Richard Deremer when he visited the Baker farm called 'Doublin Hill'. Richard's older brother Francis had married Isabell, Ethel's half sister. Ethel and Richard ran off together and married in Detroit, Michigan. (Richard's brother Harris lived there.)
When the depression hit Richard and Ethel went briefly to Cumberland, MD the Deremer homestead, then on to Brentwood, MD where they stayed for a brief time with Francis and Isabel. They moved to an apartment in Washington D.C. and at the end of the depression bought a row house on 434 19th St. N.E., Washington D.C. living there until 1948. Richard worked for his brother Francis building houses, and they moved to Michigan Park Hills (single tract homes) Hyattsville, which he and his brother had built. Daughter Deloris married Grover Clute during that time and left home. Ethel was expecting her fifth child when they moved to an apartment complex Chillum Heights Apartments where they lived until the death of her husband in 1975. (22 yrs)
Ethel moved in with her daughter Lois and husband Robert Petti, moving with them from Sterling, VA, Harpers Ferry, W.VA and Demning, NM . In Deming she loved the sunshine, roadrunners and wide open spaces, but she could do without the sandstorms. She attended Jesus & Mary Roman Catholic Church in El Passo, Texas and often said how peaceful she felt there.
She enjoyed seeing her yellow roses from her bedroom window and watching her Bananna Apple treegrow. (She had such a tree as a child). It was a dwarf tree and forming it's first apples when Ethel passed from this life.
