Nora Ellen Mickey

Nora Ellen Mickey died Oct. 2, 1944 at her home in Cumberland Valley Twp.
She was born in Cumberland Valley Twp. on August 25, 1868 the daughter of John and Julia Trout Deremer, both deceased.
On February 12, 1889, she was united in marriage with Frank G. Mickey who died on March 27, 1944. Surviving are the following children, Mrs. J. Pearl Hite, Rt. 3, Bedford; James H. Mickey, Rt. 3, Bedford;. Mrs. Vesta Zembower, Rt. 3, Cumberland, Md.; and George A. Mickey, Rt. 3, Bedford. Also surviving are a Charles T. Deremer, Rt. 3, Bedford, 18, grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Centerville Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge No, 471. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 4th, 1944 at 2 p, in, in the Centerville Methodist Church with Rev. Edwin Keener officiating. Interment was made in the P. 0. S. of A. Cemetery under the direction of S. Alton Barefoot Mortician.

I Charles T. Deremer of Cumberland Valley Township in the county of Bedford and state of Pennsylvania, being of sound mine, memory, and understanding, do make and publish this my last will and testament, herby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.
And first, I direct that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life and that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.
As to such estate as it hath pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows viz.
I direct my executor hereinafter named to reduce my entire estate into cash and for that purpose I authorize him to sell my real estate at public or private sale upon such terms, prices and conditions as to him may seem best, and authorize, direct and empower him to make, execute and deliver good and sufficient deed or deeds theretofore to have the same force and effect as if I were living and had joined therein.
After my estate has been reduced to cash, and all debts, expenses and costs of settlement of my estate are paid, I give, devise and bequeath the rest, residue and remainder of my estate in equal shares unto my three children, namely, Floyd Deremer, Lillian Zembower, and Mearl Deremer.
And I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my son, Mearl Deremer Executor of this, my last will and testament.
In witness whereof, I Charles T. Deremer the testator, have hereunto set my hand and seal, this 25th day of April A. D. One thousand nine hundred and forty.

Charles T. Deremer, 73, retired Centerville Postmaster, dropped dead Monday at 4:00
as he was about to go the Alvin Deremer farm to pick apples. Examining physician said
he died of a heart attack. Mr. Deremer was postmaster at Centerville for 37 years, retiring
three years ago. Monday he was on the farm owned by his late brother and had been
active throughout the morning. Mrs. Welch, who now lives on the farm, reported.
He was born in Bedford Valley April 18, 1873 a son of John and Julia [Trout] Deremer.
Surviving are three children: Floyde E. and Mearle M. Deremer, both of Detroit and Mrs.
Homer C. Zembower, both of Centerville.
Membership was held in the Centerville Methodist Church and the Cumberland Valley
Lodge I.O.O.F. No. 849.
Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon [Thursday] at 2:30 o'clock at Centerville,
the Rev. Edwin A. Keener officiating. Interment will be made in the P. O. S. of A. cemetery,
Bedford Valley, under the direction of S. Alton Barefoot.

Golden Wedding Celebrated By Bedford Valley Residents

Mr. and Mrs. Frank G. Mickey of Bedford Valley on Sunday celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at, their home, the same house in which they were married. A delicious chicken dinner was served to 56 guests. The tables were beautifully decorated with yellow roses, candles, favors and an enormous wedding cake, decorated with a bride and groom, and candles which the couple had to blow out. They discovered they were a little older and had to do some puffing.
At the event were these guests who had been present fifty years ago:

Mrs. 0. P. Nave, who had been a bridesmaid;.
Mr. and Mrs C. C. Nave,

Mrs. A. D. Deremer.; their children, James and George,
Mrs. Thomas Hite and
Mrs. Clark Zembower, with all their familes were present, and
Dr. and Mrs. Kester,
Rev. and Mrs. Dinkle,
Mrs. Charles Deremer,
Homer Zembower and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Deremer of Bedford Valley;
Mrs. Lloyd Hite of Cumberland,
Walworth Deremer and family and
Mrs. Sherman Deremer of Akron, 0,
They received many beautiful presents and cards and a large basket of flowers from Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Mickey were in the Johnstown flood, which happened during the first year of their marriage, but the remainder of their lives has been passed in the Valley.

Frank G. Mickey

Frank G. Mickey of Bedford Valley, 78. died at 9.30 p. in. Monday. March 27, in Allegany Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been admitted about noon following a heart attack.
The body was brought to his home and services will be held at 2.30 p. m. today in the Methodist Church at Centerville, of which he was a member, Rev. Edwin Keehner officiating.
Interment in the P. 0. S. of A. cemetery, directed by Barefoot Funeral Home of Bedford.
A son of George and Sarah Mickey, both deceased, he was born in Johnstown Sept. 15, 1866, and Feb. 12, 1889, was married to Nora E. Deremer, residing in the Valley many years. Besides his wife, he leaves these children: James H. and George A. Mickey and Pearl. wife of Thomas Hite, all of Rt. 3 Bedford, and Mrs. Vesta Zembower of Rt. 3 Cumberland. He also leaves a brother and sister, Walter Mickey of Pittsburgh and Mrs., Mary Haney of Cumberland.

Mrs. Ethel Viletta (Hite) Deremer, 61, of Bedford Valley died Wednesday, February 14, 1940 In Memorial hospital, Cumberland, Md. she was a daughter of William B. and Emma. (Miller) Hite and was born in Bedford county on June 28,1878.
Surviving are her husband, Charles T. Deremer, and these children: Floyd Deremer, Detroit, Mich.; Merle M. Deremer, Detroit, and Mrs. Homer Zembower, Bedford Valley. Mrs. Deremer was a member of the Centerville Methodist Church.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Centerville Methodist Church by Rev. Ira Dinkle and Rev. G. E., Baugliman.Baughman]\
Interment was in the Centerville cemetery under the direction of S. Alton Barefoot, local mortician.

Floyd E. Deremer, a Bedford county native, died at his home in Missoula Montana, Saturday, Sept. 26,
1970. He was born in Cumberland Valley Township in 1900, a son of the late Charles T. and Ethel Deremer.
He operated one of the first garages in the area, and moved to Detroit, Mich., in the 1920's, where he was active in the automobile industry. At the time of his retirement, he was owner of a company which manufactured automobile mufflers.
following his retirement he moved to Missoula. He was and avid big-game hunter, and piloted his own plane.
Surviving are his second wife, Dorothy, a son, Richard of Detroit, three grandchildren, a brother, Mearle
M. Deremer, Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Zembower,Bedford RD 3; and two nieces, Mrs.Charles Bagley, Bedford, and Mrs. Veryle Nave, Bedford RD 3.
Funeral Services were held Tues., Sept 29, in Missoula.

Jasper W. Elder, 71, retired farmer, formerly of Cumberland Valley, PA., died at 7:45 this morning at his home on the Bedford Road near the city line, where
he has lived since his retirement seven years ago.
Mr. Elder is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora V. Elder; by four sons: H. Christie Elder, this city; William, Carl and John Elder, all of Detroit, Mich.,
and by three daughters;
Mrs. Roy Rose and
Mrs. Rudolph Valentine, this city, and
Mrs. Floyd Deremer, Detroit, Mich.
Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran Church, Centerville, Pa. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Cora Virginia Elder, died on June 9, at her home in Cumberland. She was born in Bedford Valley 67 years ago and resided there until about 1923. The body was taken to the Bortz Lutheran Church in the Valley, where funeral services were held Sunday afternoon and interment made in the adjoining cemetery.

G. Carl Elder of Detroit, Mich.;
H. Christie Elder,
Mrs. Roy Rose and
