| Kay Kersting Elsasser 319 C Street, NE Washington,DC 20002-5709 202 544-0552 | Our family has really been bitten by the genealogy bug.We have done lots of research on both sides of the family, and have been at it for some years.We are eager to find new family members and to share information.Glen's family is primarily of Irish and German descent.On his side of the family we are researching the ELSASSERS, settled first in Ontario, Canada, and then moving to Ohio--primarily the Bryan, Marion and Cincinnati areas.The HOGANS settled in Marion, Ohio and then in Monette, Missouri, and now points west.Other families we are interested in include the HEYBURNS and the HALLS. Kay's family is of English, Irish and German descent.On her father's side we are researching the KERSTINGS, from Bohun, near Essen, Germany, settling in St. Louis, Missouri in the 1870's, as well as the DANTS, English who settled in St. Mary's County, Maryland in the 17th century, moving to Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri and points west.We are also looking for information on the BLUNDONS, Irish who settled in Pittsburgh in the 1840's. On Kay's mother's side, most of the family, including the MACYS and PARKERS settled in Quebec in the 19th century, some remaining in Canada and others moving to New England or Pacific Northwest.Others, including the PERKINS, BLANCHARDS and HEATHS moved from New England after the Revolution to the Eastern Townships of Quebec. This has proved to be a fascinating and rewarding experience --we have met relatives in England, Switzerland and Canada, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Maryland as well.Along the way we have had great fun and learned so much about our country's history and the challenges our ancestors faced.It has been a great adventure and we look forward to many more. |
