Joseph Clapp (b. unknown) Joseph, passed away at the age of 103. He was married but had no children. His wife died of tuberculosis. He never remarried, but remained in the same house until a year before his death. He fell, and broke his hip. When he had to go to a nursing home, he lost all his will to live. Until that time, he took total care of himself, with no help. He was an extremely intelligent man, who loved his independence. When social workers came and nailed down his scatter rugs after he came home from the hospital, with a walker, he was so mad that he got down on the floor and removed every nail -- at 102.
