I am researching the EMERY'S of South Dakota. They migrated west from New York State when James Emery (b. 1808 in England) & his wife, Hannah Townsend (b. abt 1815 in Penyon, NY), moved to Wadsworth, Lake, Illinois when they married in 1836. From there, one of their children, James Howard Emery (b. Oct. 1842 in Illinois), and his wife, Selena "Mary" Adams (b. 1853 in French Canada), moved to Alcester, Union, SD. They raised eight children there, including my grandfather, George Loran Emery (b. 1880 in Alcester). George married Lulu Benjamin (b. Dec. 1879 in Beresford, SD). Her parents were Daniel F. Benjamin & Sarah A. Goltry. George & Lulu had three children in the Beresford area, Clayton Virgil, Guida Irene & Loran Dale. Other family lines include Botsford, Forshee and Fox. |
