I am researching the Williams Family of South Carolina and the Dick Family of Ireland, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.

The Williams Family originated in Philadelphia before the Revolutionary War. They relocated to Pendleton Co., SC abt. 1740-1750, possibly earlier. I am interested in any information anyone might have on them....especially Jeremiah Williams III, born abt. 1740 in Pendleton County, SC and my g.g.g.grandfather, Benajah Williams and his family who left SC and emigrated to GA, MS and finally Abbeville, LA.

I am also trying to find information on John Dick, originally of County Tyrone, Ireland. John Dick was born in 1823 and his parents names were George Dick and Helena Profanda. I know nothing about his life in Ireland but do know that he emigrated to the US, first to Mississippi before buying land on Grand Chenier, Vermilion Parish, Louisiana. In 1846 he married Amanda Williams in Yazoo City, MS. The Dick family emigrated to Chambers and then Galveston Co.'s TX after living in Louisiana. Amanda and John Dick had eighteen children of whom twelve lived to adulthood. John Dick died in League City, TX in 1908. Amanda Williams Dick died in 1919, also in League City, TX.

Another branch of the Dick family were John Dick's uncles and aunt, also of Ireland, James, Nathaniel and Sarah Dick. James and Nathaniel were cotton traders in New Orleans, LA. They owned a plantation in Saratia, Yazoo Co., MS called "No Mistake". James Dick owned large tracks of land in TN, AR, MS and LA and many properties in the city of New Orleans itself. In Maury Co., TN he built for his sister Sarah Dick, wife of Christopher Todd, a plantation which is still standing called "Elm Springs".

I am also researching the following families: STARR, BROWN, FEUSTLE, SPARKS, HUMPHRIES, POSEY, TIGNOR, PHELPS, TODD and LOONEY. This is my first home page so e-mail with any ideas or suggestions!
