The Joseph Emperly Family Home Page

Hello to all. I am researching the Emperly family which originally came from Pennsylvania with some stops in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Missouri. The Emperly's are a variant of the Hemperly and Hemperley family from Germany around the 1730's. Antonius Hemperley came aboard about this time. A key individual in this search is a man called Martin Emperly, found in the state of Indiana in the census of 1850 with his first wife Amanda. Also in this census are Martin Hemperley and his wife Mary, and a son named John, all listed as being from Pennsylvania.
I am also researching the McElfresh name as well. They are originally from Scotland/Ireland and located in Indiana. They are connected to a family from the same area in Europe.

Another name I am researching is the Benjamin Howard family out of the Louisville, Kentucky area. Other names include Mittman, Overholser, Maher, Louvier, Hummerickhouse and Crook.
