I am currently researching the EMPERLY family. The name is a deviation of the name Hemperly and Hemperley from Dauphin Co. Pennsylvania. The Indiana Census of 1850 provided the name of Martin Emperly and his parents Martin and Mary as well as his brother John. The name is German and emigrated from Germany in the 1730's. They landed in the port of Philadelphia and took residence in Dauphin County, PA. I am also interested in the families of McElfresh, from Ireland, Howards from Kentucky and Mitman. |
