Benjamin Hobson (son of Stephen Sr. Hobson and Deborah Rebecca Marshall) was born April 21, 1790 in Staley, Clan Creek, Chatham, North Carolina, and died December 10, 1855 in Pana Christian, Illinois. He married Miriam Aldred on September 25, 1815 in North Carolina.

Benjamin Hobson, the fourth generation in America, was born and raised near Staley, Chatham County, North Carolina. He was an English Quaker, but was disowned for marrying a non Quaker, Miraiam Aldred, 25 Sep 1815 (Recorded in Randolf County, North Carolina.) They lived in Chatham County till Sep 1829 when they moved to Indiana. All thier children except for William Harrison, were born in Staley, Chatham, North Carolina. William was born In Marion, Indiana. Miriam died 22 Apr 1835. and in the spring of 1838 Benjamin moved to Williamburg, Shelby, Illinois. The next year, 1839, he settled near Pana, Christian, Illinois, where in 1853 he married, for the second time, Mrs. Jane Johnson. 10 Dec. 1855 he died and was buried in the Coal Creek Cemetary, (also known as the Price Graveyard.) Jane survived him by two or three years. His eight children married in Indiana and Illinois, and all but two, Neri and Riley, remained there.
