Most of the material for this website was collected by my father, Raymond Wilson Epling, who passed away on May 6, 2002, at the age of 91. He began his research in the 1950's, and, by the 1970's, he was the primary source of information nationally about the Epling family. It helped, of course, that his father was born in Clover Hollow, Giles County, VA, which was the home of the original Paul Epling in the 1780s. Also, Raymond was born and raised in nearby Roanoke, VA, and attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, just over the mountain from Giles County. I dedicate this site in his honor As I build this site, I may well change this introduction, but for now I hope it suffices. I hope also that you find the site interesting and informing. I would appreciate any comments you may have. |
