Notes for Calvin Earp: Not known for sure if Calvin was first or middle name. Calvin purchased land on 7/1/1859 in Benton Co, Ark. 40 acres was purchased in ( Section 14, Township 20N, Range 33W.)
Calvin was killed by a roving band of bushwhackers. (according to his gggranddaughter Elsie Lee Sanders. Calvin died between 1865 & 1870. This is during the time of the Civil War. There is a J.C.Earp listed in the 50th Ark, Militia, during the time of the "Battle of Pea Ridge" or Elk Tavern" in Benton County, Ark. Still researching this as of this date. (Janice Tharp) has copy of 1850 census in Beattie Township, Benton Country, Ark. Calvin was 40 years old & 1860 census in Wallace Township, Spavinaw, Benton County, Ark, Calvin's age as being 50. Both shows that he was a farmer & born in MC, On the 1860 census shows "Value of real estate of $80>00 & Value of personal property of $225.00"
Note****found info of marriage on line at LDS site. Need to check 1870 census Possible was Calvins father who was killed by the "bushwhackers"
Interesting note or coincidence but they same land was also purchased by a Josiah Harden at the same time. Josiah purchased 80 acres. Possible cousin or other relative.
