UPDATE!!! LOUGHEED BREAKTHROUGH!!

The Canadian Lougheed 'brick wall' has been vanquished. I have come into the posession of a handwritten account of the Lougheed descendents of James (Etobico Jim) Lougheed. Thanks to Elinore Val Vliet who has given me Aunt Ada's handwritten account of the Lougheed's in Ontario. As a result, this site will be divided into two parts; one for Erskine's and the bulk of new information for Lougheeds. Target date is January 2001.

The Lougheed information will be of interest for all those who are descendended from James (Etobico Jim ) Lougheed b.1800 in Sligo Ireland d. 1868, Boton Ontario Canada) Stay tuned!

If you can't wait for me to wade through the 60+ pages of info and hundreds of new ancestors, contact me at lhealey@tyenet.com or my reunited 2nd cousin, Elinore Van Vliet at ejvv@attcanada.ca and we will try to help.

It you are Purse from British Columbia or Lougheed from Manitoulin Island, please contact us right away. You are related.

The Lougheed's had at one time lended a hand in the settlement of the Peace River.

  • Reynolds Home - High Park, Toronto (19 KB)
This was the home of my mother Freda Isobel Reynolds Erskine. The house still stands. It is located in High Park Toronto Ontario Canada. My Mom's cat used to bring rabbits up on the front porch in the early 1900's.
  • Richard H. Reynolds (19 KB)
My grandfather Dick Reynolds at his wife Louise's gravesite. He smoked Prince Albert pipe tobacco and used to tell me stories that I wish I could remember. My Dad said he was a dreamer. I hope so.
  • My Grandparent's Immigration Card (11 KB)
Verified Immigration card of Robert Erskine and Kate Harriet Burrows. This was a big suprise! My Dad Robert was there and also an older brother John. I remember talk of 'brother John'when I was four. I thought he was a monk!
  • The back of the immigration card (14 KB)
Here you can see the words Southwark and the captain's name. Turns out that there is yet another Erskine on that ship. Another Robert. Looks like he was with Dr. Barnardo's group. A cousin? He was 12 in 1904.
