Joseph attended schook thru 7th grade. 1934-36 active duty in Panama and United States with the Army. Farmed with his brother Charlie, worked on road construction, back in service during World War II from June 1944-January 31, l946, wounded in Germany, Rhine Valley
Was treated at the VA Hospital in Ashwort-Gen, West Virginia. Married in February 1946. Worked on the railroad (repair and rebuilding, 55 cents hour), worked for the light company for four years as a lineman, 90 cents an hour, worked at Sicks Garage as a mechanic for 10 years, $1.10 and hour, then was maintenance man at Post Office until retirement. Did volunteer work at Tunkhannock Historical Society.
