The back portion of this house was added on to accommodate for the Anderson children after Rebecca's husband John Anderson left her and their children for a younger woman. Rebecca, suffering from diabetes that eventually killed her, had to rely on her widowed mother Nancy Herriman Spurlock to help raise her children. Wooden C. Spurlock and Nancy Herriman Spurlock are my husband's 4th great-grandparents and their daughter Rebecca is his 3rd great-grandmother.
