Lynn and Russell Etienne are researching the genealogy of their respective families so that there will be a reasonably accurate, enjoyable, and lasting record of the people, the vital events, and anecdotes that make up our diverse and interesting families.
It is an exciting adventure for us discovering relative's names, events, and places that we were unaware of or had only snippets of information on.
During our research we are enjoying making new acquaintances, reconnecting with members of the family, and discovering many formerly unknown family members.
The research has shown us that those little bits of information that are passed on to us verbally or are written on scraps of paper and on the backs of photos about family events, places, and relationships are very valuable.
Russell has recently discovered that he has at least eight Filles Du Roi among his ancestors. There were about 770 Filles Du Roi who were sent to New France by King Louis 14 between 1663 and 1673 to help populate New France.
Russell has been able to trace a branch of his family back 15 generations to 1550 to La Rochelle, France, one of the fortified Huguenot strongholds at that time.
Lynn's Family who were mostly employed in the Lace industry in Nottingham were devastated by the collapse of that industry in the late 1800's.
Her Everett grandparents and greatgrandparents emigrated from England to Canada in the early 1900's. Her Elliot(t) grandparents emigrated to Canada from Scotland in the early 1900's also.
We hope that you will enjoy looking at the family genealogy and we would be pleased if you responded with any comments, corrections, additions, or anecdotes. Photos are very welcome too!
We trust that you will understand that any errors or omissions are not intentional and we will happily correct them if you would be kind enough to advise us.
If you are uncomfortable with some of the facts or the anecdotal information please tell us.
We would love to hear from you with or without your comments.

Russell and Lynn
