I am presently researching the origins of my husband's surname, Evans, which was Americanized from Evanitcka or something similar. This family came from Germany as immigrants in the mid 1860's. There was Adam and his wife Caroline, along with their children, Henry, Bertha, Albert and August.
My search takes me from Wellsville or Salineville, Columbiana Co., OH, to Akron,Summit co., OH.
This family is extremely hard to research as the original surname has been misspelled on so many documents. Any help or information about them would be welcomed!
Other names being researched are Fotheringham, Lindsey, Kuhn, McGaughey, Lewis, Kemple, Boughner, Westlake, and Beveridge all located in Ohio or Pennsylvania. Also Taylor, Clark, Enoch, Tichner, Stallings, Bailey, Hopkins, Martin, Collins, Tanner and Bonnett all located in Virginia or West Virginia.
