* The Evans Family of Newtown*

Updated September 11, 2006

I am researching the Evans family whose origins I have traced back to Flintshire, Wales in the 18th century. The earliest known ancestor to date is Edward Evans who was born around 1730-40 in the parish of Hope, Flintshire.
The Evans's were originally farmers or farm workers, but in the mid nineteenth century transferred to working in the coal mines and iron works of north east Wales and in the early twentieth century, two generations of Evans's found work on the railways.

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
