Lewis Sanders is Paul's gggrandfather. It is said that he was working in the fields of his farm when some Union soldiers rode by. Lewis dropped his shovel, picked up his rifle and went to enlist. He left a wife and 5 young sons behind. His trigger finger was shot off in the war.

This is Paul's greatgrandfather. Seth was quite the marrying man. We recently found out that he had been married 3 times! This picture is Seth, his first wife, Martha Stark, and his 4 youngest daughters. From oldest to youngest--Lilly Faye Pope Morehouse, Carrie Drucilla Pope Sears, Callie Lizabeth Pope Cauble Dennis, and Grace Sarah Pope Sanders.

This is Paul's ggrandfather, John Lewis Sanders, wife, Sarah Wallace Halford, and 5 of their 8 children who lived to adulthood. 3 died young and are buried in the Halford Cemetery. L>R Mary Susan, James McCallister Bradley, Lola Gertrude, Frank Dixon, and Melissa Nancy. Mary and Melissa were twins.

This is a 4 generation picture. Lewis Wesley Sanders (1829-1916), John Lewis Sanders (1858-1930), Lola Gertrude Sanders Neece (1880-1842), and Opal Fern Neece Heckman (1904-1995). If you look closely you can see the missing index finger on Lewis's right hand. Family history has that it was shot off in the Civil War.

Bottom row-Sarah Wallace Halford Sanders, David Houston Halford, JMB, and Martha Caroline Halford Dilbeck.

This is a picture of John Riley Halford and William Hammond Halford. They were brothers who served in the 130th Illinios Infantry. John (on the left) died of pneumonia in Memphis, TN in 1863. William was discharged in 1864. They were the sons of Jonathan Adkisson Halford I, half-brothers to JMB Halford (Paul's gggrandfather).

This is a picture of Paul's ggrandfather who was born and died in Jackson County, Ohio. He was the first generation of Evans's to be born in the US. His father, William H. Evans immigrated from Wales around 1840. Also in this picture is Ellen Davis Evans, wife of John, and their 7 children who lived to adulthood. Seated-William Kenneth Evans, Ellen and John, Margaret Evans James. Standing-Mary Evans Higgins, Morgan Evans, Elmer Evans, Laura Evans Davis, & John Austin Evans.
