The Evans of Oregon County Missouri by way of Marshfield and entertwined with the Hursts have been traced to Claiborne County, Tazewell Tenn. William Nelson Evans who died in the Civil War was a son of John Evans who lived out his days in East Tennessee presumably in Claiborne Co. This John reportedly had but two sons and a daughter. With the several Johns in that region, we have been unsuccessful in sorting them out. George Evans from Tazewell who migrated to Webster Co. Missouri in the mid 1850's is suspected to be a relation. I call it "Tangled Roots in Tazewell". There are good genealogists in Tennessee but this question has eluded us all. Good fun but getting frustrating. William Nelson was born in 1824 and married Elizabeth Hurst 9-11-1845 in Claiborne Co. Tenn.
