My family home is located in SW Georgia in the County of Sumter and the town of Leslie. My fathers family, The Evans and Jones were in Georgia for several generations. Uriah Evans the earliest of our line entered Ga in the Early 1800s in what was then Cherokee Territory. His decendants lived around that general area until the murder my great great grandfather J. H. Evans by Molly Bryant and her boyfriend. My Grandfather was raised by the Watsons who eventually moved to Sumter County to manage the Cutts Plantation just outside of Desoto, Ga. in Sumter County. The Jones side of the family has lived in Georgia for several Generations. Wheeler is the first we have history of in the Jones line but Pinkney Lucas Jones is the first we have record of being in Ga. having married Pricilly Elizabeth Graham in Chattahoochee, Georgia. He died of the measles during the War Between the States and is suppose to be buried at Church Hill Cemetery in or near Preston, Ga. His Son, my great grandfather, Samual Madison Jones owned and worked a farm in the southern part of Lee County.

My mothers family , the Monroes and Gentrys came from North Carolina and Mississippi respectively. The Monroes lived in Cumberland County from the 1730s till my grandfather, John McNeill Monroe, left to work in different areas of the South in the early part of the 1900s. During this time he met and my grandmother Ida Carolyn Gentry in Mt. Olive Mississippi and Married her. They eventually settled on a farm outside of Leslie Ga. in the mid 1930s.

If you have any information on these lines, I would be glade to share what information I have with you.
