The Crovatt family immigrated circa 1792 to Charleston, SC. The name, I believe, was Cravat in Europe and was modified to Cravat, then to Crovat and finally Crovatt. I believe this family may have traveled by way of the Carribean islands before coming to Charleston. I have also researched the Cravat from Canada who settled in the Louisiana Territory and married into the Indian population. I have not found a connection to my family yet.
