David Williamson Poe (1799-1857)
David W. Poe has been written about in books on the early history of Nebraska. He was a tanner, tavern owner, and flour mill operator. He and son David Jackson Poe were looking for a homestead in NE, developed frozen limbs, and died of complications from limb amputations in Dec 1856 - Jan 1857.
