Bud, from Wyoming, died 2 1/2 months before the end of WWII in the crash of the Navy Privatier plane he was crew chief of. He was in Squadron 119. This plane was flying low to avoid radar detection while on a mission to rescue downed aircrew and crashed on the Luichow Peninsula, China. Notice the Aircrew wings above his ribbons.
