1730- sailed on ship "Thistle" of Glasgow, Scotland. (260 passengers, Palatines, Cap. of the ship was Colin Dunlap). They made a stop at Dover, Eng. clearance from Dover, 19 Jun.

29 Aug 1730- Qualified at Philadelphia Court House, Pa., Gov. and Magistrates at Court House.

17__- They prob. lived in Lancaster and Berks County, area in Pa., Faulkner's Swamp.

17__- To Maryland (Rev. Stapleton's " Memorials of the Huguenots...") lists him as a first settler in Frederick County, Md.

17__- Married by Pastor John Caspar Stoeve while on a visit to Monocacy, Frederick County, Maryland. Pastor Stoeve was a Lutheran and Baptized two of his children. (m. before 1737).

1738- 7 June, record of him in Frederick County's. Mononcacy Valley. Was a 'Dunker'

17__- ( In Lancaster County area the Fortney's were farmers, tradesmen, tinners, butchers and shopkeepers.)

1746- 30 Jun, patanted 200 acres at 'Deer Spring', Frederick County, Maryland. Warrant for this land dated 14 May 1745.

17__- m. by 1741

1753- d. Jul, killed by lightning in front of his house, four miles from Frederick, Maryland.

1754- 8 Jan, set. of his estate recorded at Frederick County, Maryland Courthouse. Settlement was made Catherine Fortney. Inv. was made 25 Aug 1753.

NOTE # 1:
Maryland Gazette, 2 Aug 1753, "Henry Footney, one of the sect of Dunkers, was killed bu lightning in front of his house, about 4 miles from Frederick, one day last week."

NOTE # 2:
'Dunker', is now the Church of the Brethren.
