I am searching for the European roots of CHRISTAFUR STOPHEL AU who emigrated to the United States with his brothers FREDERICK and GERICK in 1754 on the ship "Recovery" arriving in Philadelphia. In 1758 he moved to the Blackthorn Valley area of Pendleton County, Virginia which later became a part of West Virginia. He is supposed to have come from Germany, but some also say it might have been England.
In 1772 he married CATHERINE (Katrina ?) ZORN. They had 10 children.
