This website is a work in progress. It is not intended to be a complete, definitive history of the families that are presented. There is much information out there that remains to be distributed (maybe you have some yourself).

If you notice errors or omissions, please contact me or provide any additional information that you have. This website will be updated frequently with additional/new information. Dont hesitate to drop me an email with any comments, thoughts, additions, suggestions, criticisms, or hints.

The Lindsey, Jacobs, Burchfield, and Bright families all merged in Monroe County, Tennessee during the mid 19th century. Some of these families sprang from North Carolina and some from Virginia.

Monroe County provided an area where transportation routes and abundant, cheap land attracted many people from across the Appalachains and from the Great Valley of Virginia, as well as neighboring counties in East Tennessee. Some of them moved on, many of them stayed and their descendants are still there. I hope to tell a few small pieces of their stories.
