Dr. Stephen J. Faherty, Sr.

FAHERTY, DUFFY, BYRNE, and McHUGH FAMILIES

FAHERTY - The youngest son of Patrick Faherty and Bridget Tolan (both born about 1730 in Galway, Ireland) was Edmond Faherty who was born in Galway, Ireland in 1771 and came to Baltimore, MD in 1793 where he met and married (about 1807) Mary Tewell. They moved to Bardstown, KY in 1812 and in 1818 moved to Randolph County, Ill. The family spread to IL. and MO. areas.

DUFFY and BYRNE- Patrick W. Duffy (born 1837 in County Louth) and Mary Ann Byrne (born 1845 in County Meath) had three children: Thomas (born in 1864 in Ireland), John (born 1868 in Byrnesville, MO., and Patrick Michael (born between 1864 and 1869). The family settled in the St. Louis, MO. area.

McHUGH - The John McHugh married Catherine Quinn and came to Grafton, ILL. from Galway, Ireland about 1865.
