Notes for RUBY MAY STILES: Death Notice: (Ionia Daily Sentinel) December 26, 1918 Mrs. Howard De LaVergne died Saturday, her husband having preceded her to the grave only a few days. Her condition was so serious when her husband died that it was thought advisable not to inform her of his death, his remains being quietly taken from the home to Bradt's undertaking rooms in Lyons. They had one daughter, whose life was also despaired of for a time, but it is now thought that she will survive. Last year the family came into possession of the old Goodwin 80-acre farm, five miles northeast of Muir, and while they were moving in, the house was totally destroyed by fire, since which time they have occupied temporary quarters on the place in anticipation of the new house they were preparing to build. ____________________________ Both Mr. & Mrs. Howard DeLaVergne died from the 1918 flu |
