These pages are dedicated to the Clapson family. At present I have traced the family line from Hellingly, Sussex between 1774 and 1900, back to Warbleton between 1726 and 1774, and prior to that to Heathfield, back as far as 1674.
A number of Clapsons settled in surrounding villages including the market town of Hailsham.
In the main they were agricultural labourers, with one or two taking on other trades.
The information on this site is limited to that of which I am fairly certain, I have corroborated wherever possible, however some errors may remain as some educated guesswork has been used in one or two places.
The research of course continues, any contributions gratefully received.
I am also researching the other lines within the tree. I have done a fair bit of work on MARCHANTS of Sussex, mine coming mainly from Alfriston c1800. As yet I have not got far with my own name of FALLON as I have hit an early stumbling block, but I am perservering !
